RF (RED)
"was that intentional or not..?"
According to European legislation, equipment which have the intention to provide communication means by application of RF energy, are subjected to the essential requirements of Radio Equipment Directive (RED) 2014/53/EU. These essential requirements are to be subdivided into at least a requirement towards Safety (both electrical as well as for human exposure), EMC (both for the non-RF as for the RF functionality), spectrum usage.

A similar approach is to be found when export towards the US market is your goal, where FCC regulation (e.g. FCC part 15 subpart C) defines the requirements you should meet.

Suppliers might experience difficulties in finding their way through this legislative maze, specially when a combined product is considered where a combination is made between a non-RF product and an (integrated) RF module.

Due to the broad domain of our services and expertise, Laboratoria De Nayer is able to guide you through that maze for both the technical approach as well as the legislative framework, and find the most pragmatic and cost-efficient approach. Our accreditation covers a set of standards which allow demonstration of our competence to cover the testing by application of the applicable harmonised standards.
